Orioles and Blue Jays lineups for final game of series

The Orioles have posted the same lineup in back-to-back days for the first time this season.

Heston Kjerstad gets another start in left field after hitting his first home run yesterday. Ryan O'Hearn is the designated hitter.

Ryan Mountcastle is batting eighth again, followed by Jackson Holliday.

The rainout pushed back Cade Povich’s start to today. He’s allowed four earned runs and seven total in 10 1/3 innings in his two outings.

Povich faced the Blue Jays twice last season and went 0-2 with an 8.38 ERA and 2.172 WHIP in 9 2/3 innings. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was 4-for-5 with two doubles and a home run.

The Orioles improved yesterday to 4-1 in series openers. They can win their first series today.

José Berríos faced the Orioles on Opening Day and was battered for six runs and nine hits in five innings. Adley Rutschman, Tyler O’Neill and Cedric Mullins hit home runs.

Rutschman’s 13 homers against the Blue Jays are his most versus any opponent and it isn’t close. He’s reached base in all 13 of his games this season.

Berríos made two more starts after that dud and allowed two runs in 5 2/3 innings against the Nationals and one run in seven innings in Boston. He’s 10-2 with a 3.31 ERA in 17 career starts against the Orioles.

Rutschman is 15-for-25 with two doubles and four home runs lifetime against Berríos. O’Hearn is 11-for-34 with two doubles and two home runs. Mullins is 9-for-29 with three doubles and two home runs.

Gunnar Henderson is 3-for-20 and Mountcastle is 3-for-25 with a double and two home runs.

Mullins is the 13th Oriole with at least 16 RBIs through the team’s first 14 games and the first since Mountcastle (19) in 2023.

The Orioles are seeing an average of 4.01 pitches per plate appearance this season, fourth most in the majors per STATS. The Blue Jays rank 22nd at 3.83.
