Miguel Gonzalez updates his status and talks about pitching in Bowie

Currently on the disabled list with a strained right oblique, O's right-hander Miguel Gonzalez was back in the Baltimore clubhouse today after pitching a rehab outing last night at Double-A Bowie. Over 4 1/3 scoreless innings for the Baysox, he gave up four hits against New Hampshire on Wednesday night at Prince George's Stadium. He walked one, fanned five and threw 70 pitches. He said he feels fine today. "At first I was a little timid, first inning, just trying it out. After that I got loose and felt good the whole game," Gonzalez said. "Yeah, I'm excited to get back. Yesterday was good. Finished on a good note. Happy to be back pitching and it was fun. Good to be back with the boys again." Now he awaits his next move which could include a return to the O's rotation early next week. He is eligible to come off the DL as of Sunday. "Hoping, that's my goal," he said of getting quickly back into the rotation. "Depends what moves we are going to make and what is going to happen. Can't worry about that." Gonzalez watched during the Boston series as O's starters gave up just one run and 14 hits over 21 innings. "That's exciting," he said. "That is what we wanted, us as starters to get longer into the games. Happy with the boys and going to be cheering today." During his press conference Orioles manager Buck Showalter again greatly downplayed the possibility of the O's going to a six-man rotation. But, before that, Gonzalez was asked about that possibility. "Whatever his thoughts are, we're going to roll with it," Gonzalez said. "Anything he tells to us do, we'll be doing. I haven't been in that situation before, but having that extra day might help all of us. You never know."
