Can Trey Mancini hit a home run in his first three major league games?
Will his mother hug the entire lower bowl?
We'll find out tonight because Mancini figures to be in the lineup against Diamondbacks left-hander Robbie Ray. Mancini's father wasn't able to attend the games earlier this week, but he arrived in town and will have a good seat for it.
Mark Trumbo is 2-for-3 with a double against Ray and Drew Stubbs is 0-for-2. That's it for Orioles who have faced him.
Ray is 8-13 with a 4.66 ERA in 30 starts, but he's averaging 11.4 strikeouts per nine innings. He could have the Orioles flailing all night.
Ray is 14-29 with a 4.52 ERA in three major league seasons, with 59 starts among his 62 appearances. He's 5-6 with a 5.36 ERA in 15 home starts this season and 3-7 with a 3.98 ERA in 15 road starts.
The month of September hasn't been kind to Ray. He posted a 2.70 ERA in five starts in August. It's 7.29 in four starts this month.
Left-hander Wade Miley is leaving the team after Sunday's game and will go on paternity leave. He may not return until the Yankees series in the Bronx that closes the regular season.
In the meantime, Wiley gets another chance to contribute to a pennant race. He's 1-5 with a 7.55 ERA in nine starts with the Orioles, but he gave them four scoreless innings in his last outing against the Rays before upper back cramping forced him to leave.
Miley's never faced the Diamondbacks, but he spent his first four seasons with them, going 38-35 with a 3.79 ERA in 106 games.
Rickie Weeks is 4-for-13 with a double against Miley, Welington Castillo is 4-for-10 with a double and home run, and Jean Segura is 2-for-9 with a double and home run.
Zack Greinke also is 2-for-9 with a double, but that's more of an "oh, by the way."
The Orioles have scored three runs or fewer in seven consecutive games. They'll try again tonight to break out.
