Minor league notes on Bundy, Gausman and more

A couple of notes from the Orioles minors today: * Dylan Bundy's next start is being moved from tomorrow to Wednesday night at Frederick when the Keys host Lynchburg. There is no hidden reason for doing this, it is simply that all the Keys starters are being pushed back a day due to today's off day. Bundy went past five innings as a pro for the first time in his last start allowing just two hits and one unearned run over 6 2/3 frames against the same Lynchburg club he will face Wednesday night. Bundy is 5-3 with an ERA of 2.57 over 10 Keys starts. In 49 innings, he has walked 15 and fanned 56. I think there is a very good chance that Wednesday's outing will be Bundy's last with Frederick and that he could move to Double-A Bowie for his following start. * O's top draft pick LSU pitcher Kevin Gausman, will make his pro debut tonight for short-season Single-A Aberdeen when the IronBirds play at State College. He is expected to pitch three innings and then pitch three innings every sixth day until the end of the regular season. * Delmarva infielder Nicky Delmonico and pitcher Matt Taylor have been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to Sunday. Delmonico is dealing with a knee injury that could need surgery and he is expected to see Orioles orthopedist Dr. John Wilckens on Tuesday. Delmonico is batting .248 with 11 homers and 54 RBIs for the Shorebirds. If Delmonico does need a procedure, the recovery time could be in the four- to six-week range. So if it happens soon, it would end his season but not impact his play at all for the 2013 season. Taylor is dealing with left elbow soreness. He is 5-7 with a 4.33 ERA over 23 games and 12 starts for Delmarva. * Double-A Bowie shortstop Manny Machado has been named Eastern League Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday. Machado is the first Baysox player to win the award since LJ Hoes won it for the week ending Aug. 1, 2011. Machado hit .476 (10-21) for the week and hit for the cycle Saturday night, including the game-winning two-run home run. He finished the week with five runs scored, two doubles, a triple, a home run and three RBIs. In 106 games, Machado is batting .262 and leads with team with 56 runs scored, 26 doubles and a .425 slugging percentage. He is also second on the team with 57 RBIs. Machado hit for the cycle for this first time in his career Saturday night, and he also set career highs with four hits and three runs scored.
