Minor league notes on Hudson, Rowell, Mummey and more

A couple of notes from the O's minors to pass along. Outfielder Kyle Hudson has returned to Triple-A Norfolk to take the roster spot of Matt Angle, who joined the Orioles today. Hudson was batting .308 in 28 games at Double-A Bowie. He was with the Tides earlier and between May 20 and June 26, hit .188 in 24 Norfolk games. Billy Rowell remains on the disabled list at Double-A Bowie, but this week did begin an injury rehab assignment with the Gulf Coast League Orioles. He's been on the DL since June 28, retroactive to June 26, with an ankle injury. He is batting .421, at 8-for-19, in six games in the GCL with two doubles, a triple, a homer and two RBIs. Single-A Frederick outfielder Trent Mummey remains out after suffering a hamstring injury in a game on June 8 and does not appear close to returning. He has not been cleared to resume baseball activities. Mummey was batting .293 in 15 games with the Keys. Matt Hobgood and Ryan Berry both pitched last night for short-season Single-A Aberdeen at Vermont. Hobgood got the start and gave up five hits and three runs (two earned) over four innings. Berry followed him to the mound, pitching three innings and gave up five hits and one run. Hobgood will make at least one more start for Aberdeen and that is likely to be next Thursday. Berry is slated to pitch again in relief next Wednesday for Aberdeen.
