Murphy hits decisive double in extras (Nats win 3-2 in 10)

Right-hander Stephen Strasburg started off well with three strikeouts in the first five batters he faced. The other two grounded out weakly to second baseman Daniel Murphy.

But Tommy Joseph changed all that in the second inning by driving a 1-0 fastball over the center field wall and the jump from Adam Eaton. The solo homer, his first home run of the season, gave the Phillies a 1-0 lead.

Right-hander Aaron Nola got the Nationals 1-2-3 in the first frame, striking out two, including getting Bryce Harper looking.

But with one out in the second, the Nationals struck back.

With men on the corners, Matt Wieters singled between the second baseman and shortstop to score Zimmerman. Werth went to third. The Nationals tied the game up at 1-1.

Wilmer Difo struck out looking and Strasburg grounded into a fielder's choice at second to end the threat.

After two complete at what looks like a sellout at Nationals Park: Phillies 1, Nationals 1.

Update: Cameron Rupp's double high off the wall in right-center set the stage for a Phillies rally in the fifth. Freddy Galvis followed with another drive to almost the identical spot, but this time Adam Eaton crashed into the wall, making the catch.

But with two away, Cesar Hernandez singled up the middle to score Rupp. The Phillies lead the Nationals, 2-1, at the game midway point.

Update II: The Nationals knotted up the match with a run in the seventh off of Phillies reliever Edubray Ramos. With one out, pinch-hitter Chris Heisey was walked. After an Eaton strikeout, Anthony Rendon had his biggest hit of the season to date, a run-scoring double to score Heisey to tie the game, 2-2.

Harper was intentionally walked and Daniel Murphy grounded out to the shortstop to end the inning.

Strasburg finished seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits, with two walks and eight strikeouts. He fired 111 pitches, 75 for strikes.

Update III: The Nats were unable to generate a rally in the bottom on the ninth. With two outs, Eaton walked. Maikel Franco stabbed Rendon's hot-shot liner off the ground to end the inning.

Extra innings at Nats Park before a sellout of 38,664: Nationals and Phillies tied at 2-2.

Update IV: In the bottom of the 10th, Harper singled versus Jeanmar Gómez. Murphy rocked a double down the left field line and Harper scored from first by sliding into home plate face-first. The Nationals win 3-2 over Phillies to go to 6-4. It's their first extra-inning win of the young season.
