The Washington Nationals recalled right-handed pitcher Erick Fedde from Double-A Harrisburg and optioned infielder Adrián Sanchez to Double-A Harrisburg on Wednesday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.
Fedde, 26, was recalled to make his seventh Major League start of the season on Wednesday night against the Baltimore Orioles. He is 1-1 with a 3.94 ERA in six starts for Washington in 2019. Fedde's last start came on June 20 vs. Philadelphia when he allowed two earned runs on five hits in 3.2 innings of work as the Nationals topped the Phillies, 7-4.
In seven games (six starts) between Double-A Harrisburg and Triple-A Fresno, Fedde is 3-1 with a 5.45 ERA, 37 strikeouts and nine walks.
Sanchez, 28, has hit .200 (4-for-20) with one run scored in 18 games with the Nationals in 2019.
