Nationals recall Jordan, place Stammen on DL

The Washington Nationals recalled right-handed pitcher Taylor Jordan from Triple-A Syracuse and placed right-handed pitcher Craig Stammen on the 15-day disabled list with right forearm stiffness on Wednesday. President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement. Jordan, 26, joins the Nationals for the first time this season. The right-hander made one start for Triple-A Syracuse (April 10 at Scranton-Wilkes/Barre), tossing six scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and a walk, and striking out five. In 14 career Major League games spanning the 2013 and 2014 seasons, the sinker-baller is 1-6 with a 4.31 ERA. A ninth-round selection in the 2009 MLB First-Year Player Draft, Jordan made his Major League debut in 2013. Stammen, 31, is 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA in five games (4.0 IP) this season. Since transitioning exclusively to relief work in 2012, the versatile righty is 17-12 with a 2.89 ERA in 167 games (246.1 IP) for the Nationals.
