The Washington Nationals today recalled first baseman/outfielder Tyler Moore from Syracuse of the Triple-A International League and placed infielder Mark DeRosa on the 15-Day Disabled List, retroactive to April 28, with a left oblique strain. Nationals Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.
Moore batted .286 (22-for-77) with three doubles, seven home runs, 20 RBIs and 10 walks in 22 games this season with Syracuse. His home run and RBI totals rank tied for third in the International League.
The 25-year-old has batted .272 with 69 home runs and 222 RBIs during the last three seasons (2010-12) in the minor leagues. WashingtonÂ’s 2010 Minor League Player of the Year, Moore posted back-to-back 31-homer campaigns in 2010-11 and paced the Nationals system in RBI each of the last three seasons (2009-11).
DeRosa, 37, has posted two RBI, seven walks and two runs scored in 13 contests this season with Washington.
