Nice comeback: O's spot Yankees five-run lead, then rally to win

For the second night in a row, the Orioles posted an impressive win in New York. Last night, they held on late to win. Tonight, they came back early on to win. After falling behind 5-0 after the bottom of the first, the Orioles erupted for seven runs in the top of the second to quickly regain the lead on their way to a 11-5 win over the Yankees. In that big inning, all seven runs scored with two outs. Mark Reynolds produced an RBI double, Omar Quintanilla added a two-run single, and then Chris Davis gave the O's the lead with his first career grand slam. Wilson Betemit added RBIs in the third and fifth. The Orioles won their third game in a row and improved to 9-5 over the last 14 games, 30-23 on the road and 55-49 overall as they moved to within 5 1/2 games of the first-place Yankees. Some other notes on this win: * After going 5-13 vs. New York last year, the Orioles are 5-5 this season. They began 0-4 vs. New York and now have won five of the the last six between the teams. * The Orioles, who went 2-7 at Yankee Stadium last year, are 4-1 there in 2012 with four wins in a row. They have outscored New York 26-10 on the Yankees' home turf. This is the most O's wins in one season at New York since they went 4-5 in 2007. * The Yankees have lost just four of 16 home series this year and now two of those have come against the Orioles. * If the Orioles win on Wednesday afternoon, they will complete their first three-game sweep of the Yankees on the road since June 6-8, 1986. * Davis struck out three times in the game in addition to hitting his grand slam. Over his last six games he is 9-for-26 with three homers and 10 RBIs. * Quintanilla went 1-for-4 and is 12-for-26 during a seven-game batting streak.
