NEW YORK - Orioles right-hander Kevin Gausman is out to end a long streak of unsuccessful outings on the road. Gausman is winless in his last 25 road starts. His last win away from Camden Yards was on Aug. 17, 2014 at Cleveland.
In his 25 road starts since, Gausman is 0-16 with an ERA of 5.55. This season, Gausman has looked very different on the home and on the road. In 10 starts at Oriole Park, he is 5-1 with a 2.48 ERA. In 13 road starts, he is 0-9 with a 5.32 ERA and .296 batting average against. He has allowed 15 homers in 67 2/3 innings in those 13 outings.
But today he is facing a Yankees team that he has pitched well against this season. In three starts, he is 0-1 but with an ERA of 1.31, allowing three runs over 20 2/3 innings. That includes a start of eight scoreless innings, where he allowed three hits on May 5. In 14 career games (eight starts) against New York, Gausman is 3-3 with a 2.28 ERA and 1.045 WHIP.

In eight second-half games, Sabathia is 3-4 with a 5.33 ERA. In 11 home starts, he is 2-7 with a 5.32 ERA. He has made three starts versus the Orioles this year, going 1-1 with a 1.93 ERA. In 36 career starts, he has a record of 19-8 and 3.33 ERA against Baltimore.
The Yankees are going for the three-game sweep today after posting 14-4 and 13-5 wins. New York (67-61) is a season-best six games over .500. The Yankees have won two straight series against the Orioles after losing four in a row from Sept. 7, 2015 to June 5, 2016.
New York has won 11 of its last 16 games, scoring 5.94 runs per game in that stretch. They have homered six times in this series and 35 times in those 16 games.
The Orioles have hit 26 homers their last 11 games and 44 in the last 23. They hit three yesterday and are at 202 for the season, surpassing the 200-homer mark for the fifth consecutive year.
