O's ended a unique losing streak with Saturday night's win

So the Orioles ended a losing streak with last night's 6-4 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. Yep, they had lost the first two games of this four-game series. But two games doesn't make much of a losing streak.

No, not that one.

Hyde-Dugout-Railing-Warehouse-Day-Game-Sidebar.jpgWith that win, the Orioles snapped a 33-game losing streak when the opposing team records 10 or more hits and the Orioles record nine or fewer. They had won just one of the last 53 such games and that was on Mar. 30 at Yankee Stadium. That was the second game of this season and the Orioles had nine hits while New York had 10. Last night the Orioles had six while Toronto had 12 hits.

The game last night also marked Baltimore's first win at home in such games, snapping a 52-game losing-streak since May 5, 2017 versus the Chicago White Sox.

It was a good time for the Orioles to get some runs after they had scored just four in the first two games of this series. They improved to 37-73 overall, 16-38 at home and to 17-32 versus the American League East. They are 6-5 their last 11 games, 9-7 over 16 and 15-15 in the last 30.

Today they can split the four-game series which would be a good way to go into a week when they host two divison leaders in the New York Yankees and Houston Astros.

Some Orioles hitters notes:

* Trey Mancini drove in a season-high four runs last night with a three-run homer and RBI grounder. He hit his 26th home run of the season and his 10th career home run against the Blue Jays. The three-run home run in the fifth inning marked his 198th, 199th and 200th career RBIs.

Mancini is currently one of 12 players in the majors with 10 or more home runs against AL East opponents. Coming into Saturday's game, he was one of 25 players in the majors with 25 or more home runs and 55 or more RBIs and one of 11 in the AL.

* Anthony Santander has nine multi-hit games over his past 16 games. In that span he is batting .353 with four homers and 15 RBIs.

* Chance Sisco is 1-for-21 (.048) his past six games and 7-for-49 (.143) his last 14 games with no homers and no RBIs.

* Over his past 17 games, Hanser Alberto is batting .400 (22-for-55) with three homers and seven RBIs.

* In his last nine games, Jonathan Villar is batting .385 (15-for-39) with three homers, 12 runs, seven steals and seven RBIs.

* Renato Núñez has hit 18 homers with 44 RBIs his past 61 games.
