O's game blog: Birds look to end home losing streak against Cleveland

When we last saw the Orioles at Camden Yards, they were getting swept by Detroit in a three-game series. The O's have lost their last four at home as they begin a four-game series tonight with Cleveland. The Orioles are 9-10 in home games and 14-11 on the road. They have scored nine runs total in their last four games at the Yard. But the offense got going over the last three games as the Orioles hit six doubles and homers scoring 23 runs. Wei-Yin Chen (5-2, 3.69) makes his ninth start of the year tonight. He has has allowed two earned runs or less over his last four starts, pitching to an ERA of 2.59 in that stretch. The Orioles are 6-2 when Chen starts in 2014. The Orioles are 9-13 against Cleveland over the last three seasons and went 3-4 last year. All time at Camden Yards the Orioles are 46-52 against the Tribe. Chris Davis is 6-for-8 over his past two games after going 5-for-28 in his first eight games coming off the DL. J.J. Hardy is homerless over his last 232 at-bats but is 7-for-14 over his last three games. Manny Machado is 9-for-26 during a six-game hitting streak. The Orioles have had 12 hits each the last three times. The last time they had 12 or more four games in a row was April 12-16, 2007. Note from Bowie: Left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez, the Orioles No. 3 prospect according to Baseball America, returned to the Double-A Bowie Baysox tonight. He had been out since April 14 with a knee injury and was rehabbing the injury in Florida and pitching at extended spring training. Tonight at home he pitched five solid innings against Erie. He gave up just two hits and one run with two walks and strikeouts, throwing 71 pitches. Christian Walker hit another homer for the Baysox tonight. It was his 11th of year in his 45th game. Last season Walker hit 11 homers all year in 103 games over three different levels.
