O's game blog: Orioles look for their eighth win in 10 games against Tampa Bay

The Orioles tonight play the second game of a four-game series against Tampa Bay and it is the second contest of a 10-game road trip to Tampa Bay, Washington and Boston. The Orioles (72-74) have won four of five and seven of their last nine games after Thursday's comeback 4-3 win at Tropicana Field.

They are 30-45 on the road, 33-30 versus the AL East, 9-7 against the Rays and 61-19 when they score four runs or more as they did last night.

Tampa Bay (70-76) has lost five of its last six games against Boston, New York and the Orioles. The Rays are 5-10 in September and 29-34 versus AL East opponents.

On the mound tonight, Tyler Wilson (2-1, 2.19 ERA) makes his seventh appearance and third start for the Orioles facing Tampa Bay left-hander Drew Smyly (2-2, 3.14 ERA).

Wilson started May 28 versus the White Sox and gave up two runs over six innings. In his most recent MLB game, he got the start and win Aug. 3 at Oakland, going 7 2/3 innings and allowing just two runs on 100 pitches. In 24 2/3 innings, Wilson has a low walk (5) and a low strikeout total (7) and has given up a batting average against of .264.

Smyly has thrown scoreless starts twice in his last three outings including on Sept. 1 versus the Orioles when he fanned 10 over seven innings. In his last start Sunday against Boston, Smyly gave up four hits in six scoreless innings with 11 strikeouts and two walks.

In seven career games (four starts) against Baltimore, he is 3-0 with an ERA of 0.79 allowing three runs and 17 hits over 34 innings with 39 strikeouts.

* Nolan Reimold is batting .333 (12-for-36) his past 10 games with three homers and seven RBIs.

* Over his last 20 games, Gerardo Parra is hitting .177 (14-for-79) with four RBIs and no multi-hit games.
