O's get to Porcello for the lead

Despite scoring just one run through four innings today, the Orioles had hit some balls hard off Tigers starter Rick Porcello. That continued in the last of the fifth when they produced four straight hits to break the 1-1 tie. Felix Pie led off with a single and reached third on J.J. Hardy's third double of the year. Brian Roberts followed with a three-run homer to right center on a 1-2 pitch. Nick Markakis followed that with a double. After a pair of strikeouts, Matt Wieters lifted a bloop single to left to score Markakis for a 5-1 lead. Roberts now has two homers and eight RBIs. With Wieters' RBI in the fifth, the rest of the team now has eight RBIs combined to match Roberts. Vlad and Lee have combined for 0 RBI so far. The O's went 2-for-9 the first time through the order against Porcello. They went 4-for-8 the second time through. They are now 3-for-6 through the fifth on the third time through. The Tigers now have five hits today after Tampa got just four in each of the season's first three games. Markakis has three hits today, Wieters has two and Roberts has knocked in three for his third multi-RBI game of the season. The O's began today as one of four 3-0 teams in the majors along with Texas, Philly and Cincy.
