O's lineup as they try to bounce back in Game 2 (plus Hyde's pregame notes)

DETROIT - Having lost five of six and six of their past eight games and facing the team with the best record in baseball since Aug. 11, the Orioles will try to find a way tonight.

Find a way to get some offense and start winning again. 

The O's are now 83-65 overall and ended Friday night three games back of the Yankees, who are playing this afternoon. 

The O's were one-hit last night and they got just two baserunners: one on an eighth inning walk and one on Gunnar Henderson's two-out triple in the ninth that broke up Detroit's combined no-hit bid.

With the 1-0 loss, the Orioles were shut out for the seventh time and second in the the last five games. 

In going 2-6 the last eight, the Orioles have scored 15 runs while batting .181 with a .558 OPS.

Detroit has won five of six and 14 of 20 games, and their 21-9 mark since Aug. 11 is the best in the major leagues.

Hyde pregame notes: The O's may activate right-handed reliever Jacob Webb off the injured list for Sunday's series finale with the Tigers, according to manager Brandon Hyde.

Webb, who has not pitched for the Orioles since Aug. 2 due to right elbow inflammation, has thrown four times between Sept 1 and Sept 12 in rehab outings on the farm. His most recent game was a scoreless inning Thursday afternoon for Norfolk with one strikeout where he threw 22 pitches.

Webb has a 3.08 ERA and 1.17 WHIP over 53 games and 49 2/3 innings for the Orioles. 

Hyde said Webb's potential activation was the only new injury update today beyond what was said during his pregame session here on Friday.

Hyde also felt his clubhouse was keeping a positive outlook despite six losses in the past eight games.

"You walk around the clubhouse today or talk to these guys and they are feeling good about today's game. Some are not putting up the numbers and are a little bit frustrated offensively, but there is a lot of intent there and they are ready to turn the page. 

"This is a really good pitching staff and they are playing great baseball. We saw it last night. Some really good arms. We have to just get some traffic on the bases and get a big hit," he said.

Hyde said he was giving Jackson Holliday a mental break in starting Livan Soto at second base. Holliday, batting .171 over 50 games, is 2-for-25 with nine strikeouts his last eight games.

"A lot thrown at him. He's 20 year old in an AL East pennant race. Want him to relax for a night. Trying to take some pressure off him," said Hyde.
