Orioles announce 2019 spring training schedule

The Orioles will open and close their 2019 exhibition schedule with home games at the Ed Smith Stadium complex in Sarasota.

The first Grapefruit League game in spring training will be played on Feb. 23 against the Twins. The Orioles finish up against the Mets on March 25.

Pitchers and catchers report on Feb. 13, with the full squad required to be at the complex by Feb. 18.

The Orioles will face nine different opponents among their 17 home games, including the Twins four times and the Red Sox, Pirates, Rays, Blue Jays and Yankees twice. They have one game each against the Mets, Tigers and Phillies.

The 16 road dates include three trips to Fort Myers to play the Twins. The O's also travel for two games each against the Blue Jays (Dunedin), Phillies (Clearwater), Pirates (Bradenton), Rays (Port Charlotte), Red Sox (Fort Myers) and Yankees (Tampa).

The Orioles also travel to Lakeland for one game against the Tigers..

The only off-day is March 11.

Ten of the club's 17 home games will be played on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. All children between the ages of 4 and 14 are allowed to run the bases after Sunday games.

The 2019 season will mark the Orioles' 10th consecutive spring training in Sarasota and the ninth at the renovated Ed Smith Stadium.
