Urrutia is still in Haiti, where he established residency after defecting from Cuba. He spent a few weeks at the Orioles' Dominican academy, but continues to wait to get a visa to allow him to travel to the United States.
Instructional league workouts will continue through Oct. 12 and the players do play games four or five times a week. The O's schedule of games there begins Sunday when they play Team Canada.
These workouts allow young players to get some specialized instruction and up-close, hands-on work with the coaches after the minor league seasons have ended.
