Orioles lineup in final game before All-Star break

The Orioles close out the first half this morning with Austin Hays in the lineup after he left yesterday’s game with hip soreness.

Colton Cowser is in center field, starting again versus a left-hander. James McCann is catching and Adley Rutschman is the designated hitter.

Jorge Mateo is playing second base.

Kyle Stowers is here but on the bench again today.

Dean Kremer has a 4.42 ERA and 1.186 WHIP in 11 starts. He faced the Yankees on April 30 in Baltimore and allowed two runs and four hits in seven innings. Austin Wells and Juan Soto homered.

Kremer has made 10 career starts against the Yankees and posted a 4.70 ERA and 1.374 WHIP in 51 2/3 innings.

Aaron Judge is 4-for-12 with three home runs, Alex Verdugo is 7-for-21 with two doubles and two home runs, and DJ LeMahieu is 8-for-21 with two doubles.

The Orioles haven’t been swept in back-to-back series in the same year since 2021. They lead the Yankees by percentage points in the American League East.

The offense keeps struggling, with two runs scored in the last 42 innings and four in the last five games, the fewest since April 2002. The Orioles are 1-for-31 with runners in scoring position since Tuesday.

The five-game losing streak matches their season high.

Yankees left-hander Carlos Rodón has a 4.63 ERA and 1.262 WHIP in 19 starts. He’s allowed 27 earned runs and 28 total with 36 hits in his last five starts over 23 innings.

Rodón pitched at Camden Yards on May 2 and allowed six earned runs (seven total) and eight hits in four innings. Mateo, Ryan Mountcastle and Ryan McKenna hit home runs.

McCann is 2-for-15 with a home run against Rodón.
