Orioles preparing to recall Guilmet (Norris optioned)

The Orioles will announce a roster move later today, with reliever Preston Guilmet being recalled from Triple-A Norfolk.

No word on the corresponding move, but a starter could be optioned and make a start during the All-Star break. The Orioles have made this arrangement in past years.

Guilmet, the 26th man for Saturday's doubleheader in Boston, will provide an extra bullpen arm. His most recent appearance at Norfolk lasted one inning on Tuesday.

Guilmet is 4-1 with a 4.45 ERA in 28 appearances with the Tides, and 0-1 with a 5.79 ERA in nine games with the Orioles.

In 9 1/3 innings with the Orioles, Guilmet has allowed six runs and eight hits, walked two and struck out 11.

Updated: The Orioles have optioned Bud Norris to Double-A Bowie to make room for Guilmet on the 25-man roster.

Norris worked four innings last night in his first start since coming off the disabled list. The postponement Tuesday night in D.C. denied Norris the chance to make a second start before the break.

The Orioles will send Norris to Bowie to get that start and settle into a normal schedule. Showalter hinted at the move earlier today.

Now it's official.
