Orioles release Proctor

The Orioles have released veteran right-hander Scott Proctor, who was pitching at Triple-A Norfolk. Proctor allowed seven earned runs, and 13 total, in 7 1/3 innings with the Tides. He surrendered 10 hits, walked 10 and struck out six. The Orioles have plenty of other pitching options at Norfolk. Josh Stinson returned to the Tides today after starting for the Orioles on Wednesday. Left-hander Chris Jones was promoted from Double-A Bowie to Norfolk. Reliever Rob Delaney was transferred from Norfolk to Bowie. The Orioles acquired Proctor, 36, from the Giants on March 29 for a small amount of cash. I'll always remember him because I had to tweet the news while sitting at the bar at Roy's Hawaiian Fusion in Sarasota. Never assume that the Orioles are done doing business for the day. Proctor didn't make it past April before being released. Roy's is still in business. So am I. A few minutes before the Proctor acquisition, the Orioles signed veteran right-hander Freddy Garcia to a minor league deal. Garcia remains at Norfolk and is one start away from being able to opt out of his contract.
