Orioles sending out postseason invoices, and other notes

While the Orioles fight to stay in playoff contention, the organization is mailing out postseason invoices to its season plan holders on Friday. The invoices will be delivered to fans with full-season, 29-game and 13-game packages. Full-season plan holders are entitled to purchase tickets for every postseason home game - a maximum of 11 possible - including four World Series and four American League Championship Series games. Fans with a 29-game plan are entitled to six games, and fans with 13-game packages are eligible for three games. Payments are due Sept. 6 to allow the Orioles enough time to print and distribute tickets as needed, and also to determine what inventory is available for public sale later in the month. Season plan holders not only get first crack at playoff tickets, but they also benefit from a significant savings over the price of individual tickets. The cost of tickets for the first two rounds are essentially half off the regular prices. Partial plan holders save 35 percent in the first two rounds. Pricing for the first three rounds is the same as 2012 for full plan and 29-game plan holders. Fans with a 13-game package actually will pay less than they did in 2012 because they're now eligible for partial plan pricing, which was only available to 29-game plan holders last year. All that remains, of course, is for the Orioles to qualify for the playoffs again this year. Orioles manager Buck Showalter met with executive vice president Dan Duquette today to discuss September call-ups. Showalter said the new arrivals could include players not currently on the 40-man roster. Though he didn't mention any names, Showalter would like to bring up veteran left-hander Mark Hendrickson, who's 3-3 with a 2.95 ERA at Triple-A Norfolk. Wilson Betemit will continue his injury-rehab assignment Thursday at Triple-A Norfolk. The Tides are off today. The Orioles (38 errors) and Rays (45) are the only teams in the American League that have not made three errors in a game this year. Wei-Yin Chen has allowed 45 baserunners in 40 home innings. The only AL pitcher to allow fewer baserunners in at least six home starts is Freddy Garcia, who permitted 39 in 35 innings. The Orioles invited members of the Maryland Table Tennis Center in Gaithersburg to tour the clubhouse today and show off their skills. The kids were schooling some of the best players in the clubhouse. The Orioles took their team photo today, heading out to the field in their home whites before batting practice.
