Picking up those championship rings

It took place out of public and media view, but a nice thing happened this week at Camden Yards. The Texas Rangers organization took time to thank several current Orioles for helping their team win the American League championship last year and they presented several of those players with their 2011 AL championship rings. Here is the list of Orioles that were on that 2011 team: * Chris Davis had 76 at-bats * Endy Chavez made 66 starts with 256 at-bats and hit .301 for Texas in 2011 * Pedro Strop pitched in 11 games * Darren O'Day pitched in 16 games * Tommy Hunter pitched in eight games * Taylor Teagarden played in 14 games The Rangers took time Monday to present rings to Davis, Chavez, Strop and O'Day, and planned to mail the rings to Hunter and Teagarden. Hunter, at the time, was on his way out of town after being optioned to Triple-A and not there to get his ring in person. "It was really cool," Davis said. "It's a little different, because we are in a different place now - we're over here. We feel now we are a part of this organization and this family, but it was an honor to be remembered like that and get recognition for being a part of that. "I was happy for those guys getting to the World Series last year. Would have liked to see them win it, looks good for the AL and also for the Rangers. It was kind of the closing of a door in that chapter in our lives. It was nice to get it and it will look good somewhere in a trophy case." Davis was not actually present when manager Ron Washington and Texas assistant GM Thad Levine gave the current O's their rings. "They did it in between BP and gametime, so I was going through my normal routine," Davis said. "I think Thad Levine, the assistant general manager, kind of got together with the guys and told them thank you and that they were really appreciative and gave them their rings. I was actually getting ready for the game and at my locker but I talked to Thad and those guys and they know I'm very thankful for it." If a team is fortunate enough to win a championship, it takes a lot of players to help along the way. Some current Orioles were a part of that run last year with Texas and now they have the rings to prove it.
