Blanked - The Orioles were shutout tonight for the 9th time this year and the second time in nine games. They were held to four hits, going 4 for 29 at bat and were 0 for 5 with runners in scoring position. They were last shutout by Boston, 10-0 at Fenway Park on September 8th. In his third Major League start, right hander Wade Davis pitched the shutout for his first Major League win. Davis pitched out of a bases-loaded, no out jam in the first. He improved to 1-1, 4.34. Over nine innings he allowed four hits with two walks and ten strikeouts. He threw 124 pitches, 80 for strikes. Davis allowed the first three runners of the game to reach, then allowed just three more runners the rest of the game. Davis retired the last ten batters in the game and struck out the side in the 9th. His ten strikeouts tie Cole Hamels of Philadelphia for most strikeouts vs. the O's this year. Hamels fanned ten on June 21st. The O's had scored 18 runs in the first three games of this series and 38 runs over the last six games, before tonight's washout on offense. For the most part I felt comfortable out there. We just got beat tonight, Wade pitched a great game. The first inning kind of set the tone when we didn't score and Wade just got more confident as the game went on." Micheal Aubrey was 2 for 3 with a double for the O's, the only O's player with more than one hit. Aubrey's two hits tied his career high, set 9-9-08 for Cleveland against the Orioles.
