Praising hustle and power

Let's start with the hustle. Adam Jones scored all the way from first base when Boston second baseman Marco Scutaro dropped Felix Pie's pop up with two outs in the top of the sixth inning. Jones could have assumed that Scutaro would make the catch, but he ran full-speed and delivered the tying run. Maybe it's odd to praise hustle - it should be a requirement - but it seems worth noting in this instance. Not every player would have circled the bases on that play. An inning later, Ty Wigginton broke the tie with an opposite-field three-run homer. That's the power part of this entry. Wigginton's RBI total climbed to 73. Again, who would have predicted it back in March? Brad Bergesen is done after six innings. He allowed only one run, but he failed to bring in this game under two hours. Way to spoil us, Brad.
