Quick MacPhail comment on Reynolds trade talks

O's president Andy MacPhail said this morning of the Orioles trade talks to acquire Arizona third baseman Mark Reynolds, "We are making progress. Don't have anything finalized yet, but making progress." So are the Reynolds talks leading to a conclusion soon? "You never know until it's over," MacPhail added. When asked if the deal would involve the O's sending pitching to Arizona he said, "again, until it's done, you don't know. I'm just talking from experience. Lots of these things, you think you are marching toward a certain conclusion and it doesn't turn out. Once it's finalized, we'll see." He would not characterize the Reynolds talks as the biggest front-burner item involving the O's right now. "We have a few things going and you never really know when you can reach across and do something," MacPhail said. "We have a variety of things and what comes to fruition when, you just don't know. You only really influence half that equation." When asked if a report about a potential acquisition of Derek Lee was nearing completion, MacPhail hinted that the club has had talks with the free agent first baseman, but no signing is imminent. A Japanese reporter asked about Koji Uehara. "We are still talking," MacPhail said. "Hopefully we'll be able to get something done." MacPhail said Uehara is back in Japan and all his contract talks are with his representative and not Uehara himself.

Reynolds almost a wrap (it's a wrap)
