Ramos completes nine innings in rehab game for Harrisburg

Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos caught nine innings of a rehab game for the Double-A Harrisburg Senators on Monday night in their 8-2 loss to Richmond.

Ramos went 0-for-4 and grounded into a pair of double plays, but called 149 pitches from four Senator pitchers.

On Sunday, he was the designated hitter for the Hagerstown Suns and hit a three-run homer.

Ramos has been out since opening day with a left hamate fracture. He has had a few extended spring training games and now a pair of rehab games at the Single-A and Double-A level to prepare for a likely return by the end of the week.

During Monday's pregame, manager Matt Williams was optimistic Ramos could be back soon.

"All things point to him being available at some point this week," Williams said. "Exactly when, we don't know."

Could he return for one of the games of the Dodgers series at Nationals Park?

"Thursday is an off-day," Williams said. "It could be the first day in Oakland. We will just have to see how it goes. See how it is. We will have to see how he feels after today. It is one of those everyday things that you just evaluate."

The Nationals open a six-game road swing Friday night at Oakland against the A's.
