Skole tweets he is close to being cleared to resume baseball-related activities

Third baseman/first baseman Matt Skole has been out the entire season because of an injury early he suffered in April. Skole had to undergo Tommy John surgery and recently I was told Nationals officials are hoping the former Georgia Tech star will be able to play fall or winter ball. He had been going through one arm swings in light practice, and had continued to rehab the elbow this summer. But this tweet reveals that he is ready to take the next step and get baseball activities underway: He also tweeted a few days ago that he was running. So, these are good signs that Skole will be able to get back to playing baseball again in a couple of months. Skole is one of the top position player prospects in the system and did well last season in the Arizona Fall League, playing exclusively at first base. With his ability to hit for power and play multiple positions, Skole is certainly going to get a lot of play for the Nationals organization when he returns to complete health. Skole had 27 homers and 104 RBIs as the organization's minor league player of the year in 2012.
