Skole, Voth, Marmolejos and others headline minor league update

We've seen more power from Triple-A Syracuse Chiefs first baseman Matt Skole.

The 26-year-old Skole hit two homers, with four RBIs, in a Syracuse 7-1 dispatch of Buffalo.

The Chiefs hit three homers off of Bison starter Todd Redmond.

They blew it open in the seventh. Up 2-0, Skole launched a solo homer. Kevin Keyes then cranked one over the fence in left field to make it 4-0. Caleb Ramsey added a triple. Later, Steve Lerud dropped in a double and Syracuse was up 5-0.

Syracuse pounded out 15 hits, three from Skole. Scott Sizemore, Jason Martinson, Keyes, Ramsey and Rick Hague each had two hits.

Taylor Jordan (5-5) went five innings, allowing three hits, three walks but no runs while striking out three for the win. His ERA is now 2.75.

Voth (6-7) went seven innings, surrendering only three hits and two walks and striking out four in a 5-0 win over Richmond. The Senators (66-70) have recorded eight shutouts this season and now have won three straight.

Chris Bostick went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a home run. Brian Goodwin was 2-for-3 with three runs.

Low Single-A Hagerstown shut out Kannapolis 6-0. First baseman Jose Marmolejos drove in his league-leading 82nd RBI of the season, and Andrew Lee stuck out seven batters over 4 2/3 innings.

Marmolejos was named to the 2015 South Atlantic League Annual All-Star Team earlier Tuesday. The 22-year-old from the Dominican Republic is hitting .305 with 37 doubles, five triples, 10 homers and 82 RBIs over 118 games.

Down 3-0 in the bottom of the ninth, center fielder Rafael Bautista's sacrifice fly lifted Potomac to a 4-3 walk-off win over Myrtle Beach. The P-Nats scored four runs in the their final at-bat.

Third baseman Drew Ward was the last of three walks to start the rally. Brenden Webb, Read and Stephen Perez followed with three consecutive RBI singles. It was the P-Nats' (63-70, 30-33 2nd half) sixth walk-off win of the season.

Ward was also named to the Arizona Fall League and will appear on MASN's "Nats Xtra" pregame show tonight at 7:30 p.m. I'll be hosting the show tonight and Saturdays for the rest of the regular season.
