Some Bundy numbers, Jones on MLB Network and August trade targets

It looked like Dylan Bundy didn't have his best command. It looked like the Giants might get to him when they had a run in and two on in the third. But they didn't and Bundy had yet another solid outing in his sixth major league start.

Over 5 2/3 innings, Bundy allowed three hits and one run as the Orioles beat the Giants 5-2 in the series opener in San Francisco. Bundy, who threw 92 pitches, came up an out short of providing the Orioles with their eighth consecutive quality start.

But he continues to be impressive as he got the win to improve to 6-3 with an ERA of 2.93. The Orioles' road trip, which looked like a disaster a few days ago, now looks better at 4-4 with two games to go.

More notes on Bundy:

* In just his six starts, Bundy is 4-2 with an ERA of 2.76. He has won his last three starts, pitching to an ERA of 1.45. Since he gave up four runs over 3 1/3 on July 17 in his first start, Bundy has an ERA of 1.84 his past five starts. In that span, he has pitched 29 1/3 innings, allowing 15 hits with five walks and 32 strikeouts.

* Over his past four games, Bundy has allowed 10 hits in 80 at-bats for a batting average against of .125. In his six starts, he has allowed an average against of .174.

* Bundy has allowed two runs or fewer in four of his six starts.

* In 12 games since June 9, he has worked 47 innings and permitted 31 hits with 12 walks, 55 strikeouts and a 1.91 ERA.

The rotation is trending up: Bundy's start was the latest solid one by the much-maligned Orioles rotation. He came up an out short of that eighth consecutive quality start. But in that eight-game span, the rotation's ERA is 2.77. Over the past 12 games, the O's have nine quality starts and an ERA of 2.82. O's starting pitchers have allowed two earned runs or fewer in 16 of the past 22 games.

The Orioles' rotation ERA for the season is down to 4.77, its lowest mark since it was also 4.77 on June 14.

Jones spoke on the show about his involvement with kids through Boys and Girls Clubs. "Well, I grew up there," he said. "I actually always reiterate it (was) a safe haven for myself and other neighborhood kids, and other neighborhood kids around the country. So it was just the first place that I really remember going to with my brothers, cousins and meeting up with my friends, besides obviously recess and all that.

"It was just a place that we went and it was fun for us. I've seen as I've gotten older what they've done for the neighborhood. They helped me, this is something that helped me. It was pretty easy for me to just be like, 'Alright, this is where I want to focus my energy.' Obviously, I could do so many different charities, there's thousands of them out there and I respect them all, this is just the one that for me is closer to me than any others."
