Soto and Suzuki lift Ross early (Nats win 8-2)

In the final game of the regular season, the Nats got on the board in the first inning against Mike Clevinger and the Indians. Trea Turner singled and stole second base. After two outs, Juan Soto doubled to right field to score Turner.

In the top of the third, the Indians answered back with a solo homer from Francisco Lindor over the right field wall off Nats starter Joe Ross. It was his 32nd homer of the season. He also led off the game with a double.

Suzuki-Swings-White-Sidebar.jpgIn the bottom of the third, Kurt Suzuki blasted a two-run homer over the left field wall. His 17th homer of the year scored Adam Eaton in front of him.

After three innings, the Nats lead the Indians 3-1.

Update: Brian Dozier dropped in a two-run bloop single and pinch-hitter Gerardo Parra ripped a two-run double to the gap as the Nats bolstered their advantage.

Ross lasted six innings, allowing one run on four hits with two walks and eight strikeouts. He threw 78 pitches, 50 for strikes.

After six innings, the Nats lead the Indians 7-1.

Update II: Jake Bauers scored on a wild pitch by Aaron Barrett in the seventh. Parra dropped in an RBI single in the eighth.

After eight innings, the Nats lead the Indians 8-2.

Erick Fedde goes two innings without allowing a run to finish the game.

Final Score: the Nats 8, the Indians 2.

The Nats finish regular season at 93-69, face Brewers on Tuesday night.
