Spring Training Wrap: It's Nats baseball season

It's been a long winter. I think the snowstorm that many of us saw on the East Coast this week really drove that statement home. After a lengthy offseason and spring training, which was extended due to the World Baseball Classic, I can finally utter the words that I have been waiting to say for months: "Baseball is back." The Nationals will wrap up their spring at home in D.C., facing the Yankees in an exhibition game Friday. While you look forward to today's Nats game and opening day on Monday, check out some news that you may have missed this week. * Chris Young was granted his unconditional release from the team Tuesday. * Two cuts were made yesterday, in addition to the two cuts made Wednesday. Micah Owings and Carlos Rivero were assigned to minor league camp yesterday, leaving just one more cut for the Nats today. * Crushing two home runs in the Nats' win over the Braves on Wednesday, Wilson Ramos is making Davey Johnson's job in choosing his opening day catcher difficult. * Johnson plans on giving the final bullpen spot to Henry Rodriguez. This offseason has been a great opportunity for me, allowing me to keep fans updated with the latest Nats news by showcasing the work of Dan Kolko, Byron Kerr and Pete Kerzel.
