Stinson expected to make Wednesday's start

The Orioles will add pitcher Josh Stinson to the 25-man roster on Wednesday, and he's expected to start that day against the Toronto Blue Jays. I'm told that manager Buck Showalter hasn't made a final decision on his starter, but Stinson's arrival would seem to signal that he's taking the mound in the last game of the homestand. Freddy Garcia is listed as tonight's starter for Triple-A Norfolk, which eliminates him from consideration unless he's a late scratch. Left-hander Zach Britton was the other Norfolk pitcher in the mix, and he would have been working on an extra days' rest after starting on Thursday. Stinson, 25, has made one major league start among his 20 appearances, which came last year with the Milwaukee Brewers. The Orioles selected him off waivers from the Oakland Athletics on April 4. Stinson is 0-2 with a 4.43 ERA in the majors. He's allowed one earned run (four total) in 11 2/3 innings over two starts with Norfolk this season, with four walks and 10 strikeouts. Stinson was reassigned to Single-A Frederick on Saturday, and he allowed one run and four hits in two relief innings. The Orioles kept him close - the Keys were in Potomac - in case they needed to recall him during their doubleheader or on Sunday. The Orioles selected Stinson off waivers earlier this month because they needed another starter with Steve Johnson on the disabled list. Johnson will make his first injury-rehab start with the Tides on Wednesday morning. Stinson is on the 40-man roster, so no corresponding move is necessary.
