I don't know when Pedro Viola will pitch for the Orioles or how he'll fare, but he won't be making his major league debut.
Viola appeared in nine games with the Cincinnati Reds last year, allowing four runs and seven hits in seven innings, with three walks and five strikeouts. He surrendered two home runs, including the first for Colorado's Eric Young Jr.
You can read more about him right here. It's his bio, which must be accurate if it ran in Wikipedia.
The Orioles claimed Viola off waivers on April 21.
You can check out his minor league numbers right here.
Viola pitched six innings last night for Double-A Bowie, so he'll need a few days to recover. He's been a starter and reliever for the Baysox. No way he cracks the rotation up here.
Down on the farm, Single-A Frederick first baseman Tyler Townsend was named the Carolina League's Player of the Week for the second week in a row. He became a repeat winner after going 9-for-21 with a double, two triples, a home run and five RBIs.
Townsend has hit .415 since Aug. 23, with four doubles, two triples, three homers and 12 RBIs.
The Orioles selected the Delaware native in the third round of the 2009 draft.
