SARASOTA, Fla. - Chris Tillman's bullpen session has been pushed back to Sunday after the club discovered that an antibiotic he was taking caused soreness in his joints.
The Orioles switched his medication and gave him an extra day to recover. They're also wondering if it impacted Wednesday's bullpen session.
The original March 17 target date for Tillman to make his first start may be too ambitious, but it hasn't been eliminated.
Reliever Logan Ondrusek will visit Dr. James Andrews on March 20 and could undergo surgery the following day if recommended. Ondrusek has a sore right elbow and was discouraged by the results of his MRI-arthrogram.
Outfielder Seth Smith isn't starting today because of a sore hamstring. Manager Buck Showalter said Smith would have played in the regular season.
First baseman Chris Davis was feeling worse today due to his bronchitis and the Orioles removed him from the lineup and the complex.
Outfielder Craig Gentry is fine after being hit by a pitch last night on the wrist.
Rule 5 pick Anthony Santander, limited to designated hitter duty following right shoulder surgery, is doing defensive drills and will play the outfield in a game in the near future.
Santander has struck out 10 times in 20 at-bats this spring.
Michael Bourn saw hand specialist Dr. Brian Schofield yesterday in Sarasota and the outfielder's right ring finger is healing nicely.
Catcher Chance Sisco will start on Sunday against the Twins in Fort Myers.
Showalter said Jesus Liranzo's fastball was clocked at 97-99 last night against the Red Sox in Fort Myers.
The Orioles are listing relievers Darren O'Day, Donnie Hart, Gabriel Ynoa and Oliver Drake behind starter Mike Wright.
