Tillman vs. Stroman in wild card game

TORONTO - Chris Tillman has been named the starter for Tuesday night's wild card game at Rogers Centre.

Tillman is 5-10 with a 5.44 ERA in 24 career starts against the Blue Jays and 2-6 with a 7.01 ERA in 13 starts at Rogers Centre. In his last two appearances here this season, he allowed four runs total and three earned over 11 1/3 innings.

We'll find out later today whether Ubaldo Jimenez, the other starting candidate, is in the bullpen.

Right-hander Marcus Stroman is starting for the Blue Jays instead of left-hander Francisco Liriano.

Stroman is 9-10 with a 4.37 ERA in 32 starts this season. He's 1-2 with a 7.04 ERA in four starts against the Orioles this season and 2-3 with a 5.27 ERA in seven career games, including six starts.

The Orioles don't have to submit their wild card roster until Tuesday. However, they've already sent some players to Sarasota instead of bringing them to Toronto

There are a few players here, such as backup catcher Francisco Pena and first baseman Trey Mancini, who aren't expected to be included. Outfielder Drew Stubbs and left-hander Brian Duensing almost accompanied the team to Toronto, where the Orioles currently are holding their workout.

Perhaps there will be a surprise or two.

If the Orioles advance to the Division Series, their first game against the Rangers would start at 4:38 p.m. on Thursday, with Game 2 at 1:08 p.m. the following day.

Game 3 would start at 7:38 p.m. Sunday at Camden Yards.
