Walk this way (updated)

You have to wonder, if, as this game goes on, the Orioles will be able to make Red Sox starting pitcher Andrew Miller pay for his wildness. Miller had walked nine batters without a strikeout over 7 2/3 in his last two starts, one of which was against the Orioles. He walked the bases loaded with one out today in the last of the second, but Craig Tatum came up and inexplicably swung at the first pitch. He later grounded into an inning-ending double play on a 2-2 pitch that was out of the strike zone. Through three innings this afternoon, Miller has walked five with just one strikeout, but he has not allowed a hit and leads 1-0 on a Jacoby Ellsbury solo homer, his 14th on the year. The Sox just added a second run in the fourth. Miller now has thrown 60 pitches and just 32 for strikes. He has issued 14 walks in 10 2/3 over his past three starts. The Orioles have scored 30 runs in their last four games before today with a team average of .286 in that span to go with nine doubles and nine homers. They are batting .423 with runners in scoring position in that stretch. But so far, no hits or runs off Miller. We'll see if they can change that at some point this afternoon. Update: Walk, but don't run, well, at least, score a run against Miller. He left the game with two on in the last of the sixth and Matt Albers got Nolan Reimold to ground out to end the threat. Miller walked six today, but pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings. He gave up just two hits, singles by Craig Tatum and Derrek Lee. The Orioles went just 2-for-18 at bat against Miller in this game after he had given up a batting average against of .303 this year in his first five big league starts.
