Wilson vs. McHugh tonight in Houston

The Orioles no longer are in first place in the American League East, dropping a season-high one game behind the Red Sox.

One game. This is no time to panic.

They struck out 19 times last night, creating a breeze strong enough to blow back Jim Palmer's hair. Manager Buck Showalter found it unacceptable and didn't try to hide it while being interviewed on "O's Xtra" following the game.

Collin McHugh, who starts tonight for the Astros, is averaging 7.2 strikeouts per nine innings.

McHugh has some issues. He's posted a 5.13 ERA and 1.585 WHP in nine starts over 47 1/3 innings, though he's won four of eight decisions. Right-handers are batting .344 against him and left-handers are hitting .299.

Does Nolan Reimold get a start tonight? Is it time to dust off Hyun Soo Kim?

McHugh is 3-2 with a 2.59 ERA in five starts while working on regular rest. He's 1-1 with a 7.47 ERA in three starts on five days' rest.

His most recent outing came on May 19. Today's the 25th.

I'll let you do the math.

McHugh is 1-0 with a 4.66 ERA in three career starts against the Orioles, with 10 runs and 22 hits allowed over 19 1/3 innings. Adam Jones and Manny Machado are 3-for-9 against him. One of Jones' hits is a home run.

Pedro Alvarez has a home run in his only at-bat.

Mark Trumbo is 1-for-18 in his last four games to lower his average to .282. Alvarez is batting .191, Jones .235, Joey Rickard .259, Chris Davis .229, Ryan Flaherty .189, Caleb Joseph .190.

Tyler Wilson is 2-2 with a 3.68 ERA in eight games, including five starts. He posted back-to-back quality starts before allowing five runs to the Mariners in six innings.
