Zimmerman and Zimmermann remain hot (the lead increases)

That headline would have been a heck of a lot smoother if Ryan Zimmerman and Jordan Zimmermann would just get together and agree to have their last names spelled the same way. Make it happen, fellas. Do it for the sake of my headlines, if nothing else. The Zimmerman(n) boys have helped the Nationals to an early 4-0 lead over the Dodgers after three innings. Zimmerman has a two-run double and three RBIs, and Zimmermann has thrown two scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Both guys are on fire lately. Zimmerman, since that golden sombrero game his first day back off the disabled list, is hitting .346 with five RBIs and five walks in seven-plus games. His season average is now up to .253, the highest it's been since April 6. He seems to struggle out of the gates every year, land on the DL, return to action and then absolutely rake. Maybe next year the Nats can work it out so Zimmerman is convinced he's injured in spring training. That way, his offensive dominance can start opening day and continue the rest of the way out. Zimmermann, meanwhile, has now allowed just one run over his last 28 innings of work. In that span, he's surrendered only 12 hits, walked four and struck out 21. Decent numbers, I guess. Zimmermann has needed just 33 pitches to get through three innings of work tonight. The Nats are 15-2 this season when they've scored first. So far, so good tonight. Update: Two more Nationals runs came around in the fifth inning, giving the visitors a 6-0 lead. One of those fifth-inning runs came around on an Adam LaRoche RBI single, extending his hit streak to 10 games. The Nats had scored six total runs for Zimmermann over his last three starts, all of which were wins. They have put up six runs for him tonight through just five innings.
