Right-handers Jordan Zimmermann and Shelby Miller are set to tangle for the second time in less than a week when the Nationals and Braves face off tonight in Atlanta. Both came away without a decision in the Nationals 2-1, 11-inning win last Wednesday in D.C.
Zimmermann threw eight scoreless frames in that game, scattering six hits and striking out three without a walk. He left with a 1-0 lead before the Braves tied it up against Drew Storen in the ninth.
Miller, who owns the National League's third best ERA (1.94), was equally impressive six days ago. Miller shut out the Nats, allowing just one hit through six innings before running into trouble in the seventh. Denard Span drew a leadoff walk, Miller's only free pass in the game. Anthony Rendon followed with a single and Bryce Harper scored Span on an RBI base knock.
Miller holds a 2-0 record with a 0.85 ERA in five career starts against the Nats.
