Jordan Zimmermann will take the ball tonight for his 21st start of the season. He'll also take the ball in his home state of Wisconsin for the first time in his major league career.
The Auburndale, Wisc., native and former star at the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point will face the Brewers tonight as he looks for his eighth win of the season. Zimmermann has been on fire lately, allowing a total of four earned runs over his last six starts.
Earlier this week, a reporter asked Zimmermann if he was excited to head home and pitch in front of what will surely be a large group of family and friends.
"I'm excited to have it over with," Zimmermann replied with a wry smile.
The Nationals' righty will face off against Brewers veteran left-hander Randy Wolf, whose 5.46 ERA is the highest in Milwaukee's rotation.
Wolf has fared well recently, however, allowing just five runs over his last 14 2/3 innings.
The 35-year-old hurler is 9-5 over 21 career starts against the Nats.
Davey Johnson has gone to his right-handed-hitting lineup against Wolf, moving Danny Espinosa up to the leadoff spot and dropping Steve Lombardozzi to eighth in the order. Tyler Moore returns to the lineup with Roger Bernadina sitting today.
