Tommy Milone and Nathan Eovaldi are making their first career opening day starts. Milone is replacing John Means, who's on the 10-day injured list with left shoulder fatigue.
Eovaldi is 3-1 with a 5.62 ERA in nine career starts against the Orioles. He made two starts last season and allowed eight earned runs with seven walks in seven innings.
Renato Núñez, who's batting cleanup, is 5-for-6 with two home runs lifetime against Eovaldi. Davis is 4-for-13 with two home runs.
Xander Bogaerts is 6-for-12 against Milone. J.D. Martinez is 6-for-18 with two home runs.
The Orioles are 43-23 all-time on opening day and have won 15 of the last 19. They're 6-2 against the Red Sox.

The Orioles outrighted pitcher Hector Velázquez to Triple-A Norfolk earlier today after he cleared waivers, and his removal from the 60-player pool reduces the total to 55. There are 39 players on the 40-man roster.
Velázquez was claimed off waivers from the Red Sox on March 8.
