The Orioles made a series of roster moves this afternoon that leaves them with two bench players.
José Rondón was designated for assignment and the club recalled reliever Branden Kline from Triple-A Norfolk.
It has to be a temporary arrangement.
Rondón popped up as a pinch-hitter and has disappeared in less than a week.
Also, the Orioles claimed left-hander Ty Blach off waivers from the Giants - these teams love doing business with each other - and optioned him to Norfolk.
More on this later. I just spent 90 minutes on 695 due to an accident, so I'm running late.
Hanser Alberto is back in the lineup at third base. Stevie Wilkerson is back in the lineup in center field.
Anthony Santander is playing left field. He's batting .367 (11-for-30) against the Jays this season.
Since being recalled from Triple-A Norfolk on June 7, Santander leads the Orioles in hits (56) and RBIs (30). He's batting .349 (30-for-86) in 22 home games and .260 (27-for-104) in 26 road games.
Richie Martin is 7-for-19 (.368) in his last 10 games. He's also in the lineup.
Dylan Bundy faced the Jays on July 5 at Rogers Centre and held them to one run and three hits in 6 2/3 innings. He owns a 3.23 ERA and 1.057 WHIP in 12 career appearances (eight starts) against Toronto.
Left-hander Thomas Pannone is making his 27th appearance this season, but only his fifth start. He's carrying a 5.98 ERA and 1.430 WHIP in 49 2/3 innings.
His body of work this season includes five scoreless innings of relief against the Orioles, with two hits allowed and six strikeouts. Trey Mancini is 3-for-6 with a double and triple lifetime against Pannone.
Left-handed hitters are slashing .208/.271/.434 against Pannone this season. Right-handers are slashing .264/.358/.407.
