Orioles get back two regulars for tonight's game against Yankees

Adley Rutschman and Cedric Mullins return to the Orioles’ lineup tonight in the series opener against the Yankees at Camden Yards.

Jordan Westburg remains out with a sore hamstring.

Heston Kjerstad is in right field and Ramón Laureano is in left. Ryan O’Hearn is the designated hitter.

Ramón Urías gets another start at third base, with Jackson Holliday playing second.

Rutschman owns a .416 on-base percentage against the Yankees, third-highest among catchers with a minimum 150 plate appearances, per STATS. Johnny Bassler is first at .433 from 1914-27. Rutschman’s mark is second-highest among active players behind Mike Trout’s .419.

Tomoyuki Sugano is the Orioles’ most reliable starter with a 3.54 ERA and 1.143 WHIP in five starts. He’s walked five and struck out nine in 28 innings.

Left-handers are batting .246 with a .726 OPS and right-handers are batting .262 with a .764 OPS.

Sugano, John Means, John Stephens, Mike Mussina and Jose Bautista are the only Orioles rookies to go seven innings and not walk a batter in back-to-back starts, per STATS.

The Orioles have lost six of their last seven games and are in last place with a 10-17 record. The Yankees are in first place with a 17-11 record.

Per STATS, the Orioles’ 5.24 run differential between their wins and losses is the third-largest in the majors. They’ve gone 1-15 when scoring three runs or fewer, also third-worst in the majors.

Yankees right-hander Will Warren has made five starts and posted a 4.79 ERA and 1.258 WHIP in 20 2/3 innings. He’s surrendered only two home runs but also walked 10 batters.

Warren hasn’t gone more than five innings in his starts.

Left-handers are batting .294 with an .869 OPS in Warren’s 11 career games and right-handers are batting .275 with an .852 OPS. He’s never faced the Orioles.

Aaron Judge is the first Yankee this century and only the fourth in franchise history to have at least 25 RBIs, 25 runs and a .400 average at this point of the season, per STATS. Babe Ruth (twice), Lou Gehrig and Dave Winfield are the others.

The Yankees and Dodgers are tied for most home runs in the majors with 45. The Yankees are first in on-base percentage at .348, slugging at .468 and OPS at .816. They lead the American League with 155 runs scored.

The Orioles optioned left-hander Grant Wolfram to Triple-A Norfolk. He logged 1 1/3 innings against the Tigers last weekend and surrendered two runs. Righty Kade Strowd was recalled from Norfolk as the corresponding move.
