As the Nationals get set to upgrade their roster this offseason, trying to add players that can help them return to the postseason and push past the National League Division Series for the first time in team history, they will also see some changes in their front office.

Assistant general manager Bryan Minniti has announced that he will be leaving the Nationals after five years with the organization, a source confirmed.

Minniti came to the Nationals in 2009, and has served as general manager Mike Rizzo's right-hand man since then, assisting with everything in the baseball operations department from contract negotiations to player transactions to budgeting to making sure the Nationals were compliant with league rules.

Prior to joining the Nats, Minniti spent nine years with the Pirates, working his way up from an intern to director of baseball operations, a title he held his last two seasons in Pittsburgh.

Minniti was a well-liked member of the Nationals organization and known to be a hard worker.

It's unclear what his next role will be, as Minniti has not announced his next career move.

Minniti's departure comes less than a year after former assistant GM and vice president of player personnel Roy Clark left the Nats to join the Dodgers as a national crosschecker. Clark just recently was hired by the Braves to join their front office.
