Back-to-back homers on back-to-back nights (instant update)

BALTIMORE - If you were looking for some consistency out of the Nationals' offense, you've gotten it over the last two days. Small sample size, sure. But it's a step in the right direction. The Nats have smacked back-to-back homers for the second straight game, and their three solo home runs through the first four innings tonight have given them a 3-1 lead. Ryan Zimmerman got the party started in the top of the first with an absolute laser beam that flew out over top of the Orioles' bullpen in left-center and nearly took out Zach Duke, who was seated at the very front portion of the Nationals' bullpen. Roger Bernadina then launched a long homer of his own in the third, crushing a Chris Tillman changeup way - and I mean way - out to right. The ball barely stayed fair, but it had plenty of distance, enough to carry it to Eutaw Street. It was the 68th Eutaw Street home run in Camden Yards history, and the second hit by a member of the Nationals. Adam Dunn joined the Eutaw Street club back on June 28, 2009. This was Bernadina's second straight game with a homer, this after he'd gone his first 67 at-bats of the season without one. Just six pitches later, Zimmerman followed by smoking a 93 mph Tillman fastball out to center for his second homer of the game. He now has five longballs this season, and his batting average is all the way up to .295. Jordan Zimmermann looked shaky in the second inning when he allowed three hits and a walk, and he surrendered a run on Ryan Flaherty's RBI double, but he now has a 3-1 lead as he takes the mound in the bottom of the 4th. The ball is flying out of Camden Yards, so that lead is far from safe. Update: I wasn't lying when I said the ball was flying out of Camden Yards tonight. Chris Davis launched a homer to right-center off Zimmermann, a solo shot leading off the bottom of the fourth, to cut the Nats' lead to 3-2. It's Davis' 18th homer of the season. He's kind of good, I guess. It's home run derby at the Yard. I feel bad for anyone who happens to toe the rubber here tonight. By the way, it was announced Bernadina's homer went an estimated 406 feet. Seemed further than that to me.
