First team to score wins? (Phillies lead 4-0)

PHILADELPHIA - The way Jordan Zimmermann and Cliff Lee have been dealing today, the first team to finally get on the board might just take this series finale. We're scoreless through 4 1/2 innings today, and neither team has really threatened much thus far. Tyler Moore's one-out double in the top of the fifth has provided the lone runner in scoring position for either team. The two starters have allowed a combined five hits thus far this afternoon, only one of which has been surrendered by Zimmermann. It's been a sharply played ballgame by both teams, with solid defense backing up the strong pitching. Steve Lombardozzi and Ryan Zimmerman have both delivered sparkling efforts on the Nationals infield, while Phillies infielders have needed to dodge a barrage of splintered bats headed their way. Lee broke three Nationals' bats in a four-hitter span at one point. He's been dealing and pounding the strike zone, throwing 49 of his 60 pitches for strikes. Dating back to last night, Phillies starters have thrown just 30 balls in 165 pitches. Not bad. Update: Maybe I spoke too soon. The pitchers' duel has come to an end. The Phillies tallied three runs off Zimmermann in the fifth, and Lee was one of the hitters who played a key part of the action. His one-out double over the head of center fielder Bryce Harper got the Phillies on the board and got things rolling. Jimmy Rollins followed with a two-run homer to right, turning what was a dynamite pitcher's duel into a 3-0 Phillies lead. Zimmermann then gave up a single and a stolen base to Juan Pierre and walked Ryan Howard, but got out of the jam without further damage by getting John Mayberry to pop up to end the inning. That'll be it for Zimmermann, as Roger Bernadina will pinch-hit for him to start the sixth. Zimmermann allowed just one hit through four, but hit a wall in the fifth and gave up four hits and three runs. Update II: Tack on one more. Laynce Nix deposited an 0-2 pitch from Tom Gorzelanny into the right field seats, making this a 4-0 game.
