Former National, fan favorite Michael Morse to take on MASN broadcast booth in Toronto

The MASN broadcast booth will have a familiar face in an unfamiliar role this weekend as the team heads north of the border. Instead of the usual duo of Bob Carpenter and F.P. Santangelo calling the Nationals' three games against the Blue Jays, former Nats player and local fan favorite Michael Morse will take on the role of color analyst alongside play-by-play man Carpenter. Santangelo will be in California for his son's college graduation.

Morse, 36, has begun transitioning his career from the diamond to the booth since suffering a concussion in a brawl against the Nats while playing for the Giants on Memorial Day 2017. The former utility man previously joined Johnny Holliday in the MASN studios for "Nats Xtra" pregame and postgame shows during tMemorial Day weekend.

The infielder/outfielder originally came to Washington in a trade with the Mariners on June 28, 2009 and made his Nats debut later that season on Aug. 21, quickly becoming a clubhouse and fan favorite with his infectious smile, positive attitude and love for the game. Hitting .294 with 67 home runs and 208 RBIs over four seasons with the Nationals may have helped, too.

Morse also became popular for his use of the famous 1980's synthpop song "Take On Me" by A-Ha as his walk-up song at Nationals Park and for his single-turned-grand slam on Sept. 29, 2012 at Busch Stadium.
