Game 129 lineups: Nats at Cubs

CHICAGO - It's another beautiful day at Wrigley Field, where the Nationals look not only to beat the Cubs again but continue a pretty remarkable run over a longer stretch of time. They've now played .667 ball (52-26) since May 24. Thanks to the Dodgers' loss last night, that's now the best record in baseball during that prolonged stretch. And they've won 13 of their last 17, with all four losses coming after they blew a lead in the eighth or ninth inning. So they've led in the eighth inning or later in 17 consecutive games. That's really hard to do.

Ross-Winds-Gray@SF-sidebar.jpgThey'll look to keep the streak going today with Joe Ross on the mound. Ross was deemed good to go after getting tagged on the right shin by a comebacker Monday night in Pittsburgh. He was pitching well again that night before his abrupt departure in the bottom of the fourth, but he's facing a much tougher lineup today in the Cubs. (Though the wind is blowing in from right field, which could help a little vs. their lefties.)

The Nationals face a left-hander for the third straight day, this time in the form of José Quintana. So Davey Martinez is sticking with the lineup that worked each of the last two days, aside from finally giving Kurt Suzuki a well-earned break. Yan Gomes is behind the plate and batting eighth, working with Ross.
