MILWAUKEE - It's September at last, and not a moment too soon for a Nationals club that has been playing the waiting game for quite some time now, another division title all but wrapped up, a host of injured players slowly but surely returning to the active roster. There's still one more long month to go, but for the first time the finish line is now within reach.
September also means expanded rosters, and the Nationals have added five players today: relievers Ryan Madson, Enny Romero (both activated off the disabled list) and Austin Adams, plus starter Erick Fedde and catcher Raudy Read. Madson, who has been out with a sprained index finger, may not be ready to pitch just yet, but with the expanded roster there's no need to keep him on the DL any longer. Romero, who had been pitching on rehab for Triple-A Syracuse the last two weeks, is ready to go after missing time with a forearm strain.
As for tonight's game, Tanner Roark gets the start. The right-hander hasn't been dominant of late, but he has been consistent, allowing two or three runs in six of his last seven outings, allowing his ERA to slowly creep down to 4.63. Roark didn't face the Brewers earlier this summer.
